Homologating medical specialties in Spain is more complex than general medicine. The following are the general requirements for any type of medical specialty accreditation.

  • The homologation of medical degrees is handled by the Ministry of Education, while specialist degrees are processed through the Ministry of Health.
  • You must demonstrate your proficiency in Spanish if you have not completed university studies in the language or if you come from a nation where it is not your native language.
  • Demonstrate the quality and length of formation received in the country of origin and comply with the guidelines set out in the European Professional Qualifications Directives.
